Maurice Samuel Young, better known as Trick Daddy, was born on September 27, 1974, in Miami, Florida, United States. Charles Young and Pearl Brockington were his parents when he was born. Trick was reared in a family of ten brothers and sisters by his mother. He and his brothers grew up in the Liberty Square apartment complex. Trick also shared a home with his father, a local pimp. Trick and his brother, Derek, moved home with their father when they were teenagers.

He and his brother began peddling crack cocaine on the streets during the period he was living with their father. He was arrested for drug and handgun possession when he was 15 years old.
