Suzanne Somers Net Worth and Career
Suzanne Somers began her acting career in the 1960s, with tiny parts such as Blonde in the White Thunderbird. She then appeared in the films Lotsa Luck and The Rockford Files, among others.
Her early roles featured graphic situations, such as a topless impoverished girl in Magnum Force. With more appearances on The Love Boat and One Day At A Time, she was steadily gaining in popularity.
Her big break came in 1977 when she was cast in the comedy Three’s Company as Chrissy Snow. Her character Chrissy, who worked as an office secretary, was a major success on the program.
However, if the show’s popularity grows any more, Somers’ support for it will dwindle. Somers wanted a five-fold compensation rise as the show’s popularity grew.
She also insisted on a 10% cut of the show’s proceeds. She thought she was adding a lot of value to the presentation from her point of view. The show’s producers, however, were unimpressed and turned down Somers’ request for a raise.
Somers sued the program for commercial damages to her reputation when her part was reduced to barely 60 seconds every episode. Somers has since appeared in a number of different roles, although none have been as popular as her appearance in Three’s Company, which featured a talk program called Suzanne Somers Breaking Through.
Personal Life
Somers married Bruce Somers while he was just 19 years old. Bruce Jr. was her son from her marriage to Bruce. Their marriage, however, deteriorated with time, and they chose to split barely three years after marrying.
She began dating Alan Hamel, a television personality, later on. In 1977, the two decided to marry and have been together ever since. In 2000, she was diagnosed with stage II breast cancer and had to undergo many treatment sessions as a result of the diagnosis.
She is an advocate for bioidentical hormone replacement treatment and has authored a book on the subject.
