In Fort Myers, Florida, Watkins was born on June 14, 1993. He was a letterman in football, basketball, and track and field while at South Fort Myers High School. Sammy has 33 catches for 537 yards and ten touchdowns in his second season. He earned a first-team all-state pick throughout his junior and senior years.
