In the United States on July 23, 1996, Sam Burns was born in Shreveport. Todd and Beth Burns were his parents. Sam has been a terrific player since he was a little boy. In fact, he has won three state championships as an individual. At the time, he was a junior in high school, studying golf at Calvary Baptist Academy.
He was named ALGA Rolex Youngster Player of the Year in 2014 while still a junior. Despite his studies at Louisiana State University, he continued to play golf. He was able to win four tournaments throughout his 15 collegiate starts. He won the NCAA Division I Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year award during the 2016-17 season.
