Early Life
In the New York area Long Beach, on March 10, 1963, Rubin was born. He attended Long Beach High School, where he was a member of The Pricks, a rock band that performed at school.
Rubin founded Def Jam Records while he was merely a senior in high school. A Hose song was one of their first singles. He stayed with the band and went on tour in locations like New York and California. However, the band disbanded in 1984 because Rubin wanted to concentrate on hip hop, which he had discovered to be his true calling.
