In the United States, on March 31, 1940, Patrick Leahy was born in Montpelier, Vermont. Alba and Howard Francis Leahy welcomed him into the world. He’s had blindness in his left eye since infancy. Patrick’s father was of Irish ancestry and came to Vermont in the nineteenth century to work in the industrial facilities and granite quarries of Barre Town and Barre City.

He attended Montpelier’s St. Michael’s High School for his formal schooling. In 1957, he graduated with honors from high school. He then went to Saint Michael’s College, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in political science in 1961. He received his Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center in 1964. After passing the bar exam, Patrick joined the company as an associate.
