On the 27th of August 1958, Kathy Hochul was born in Buffalo, New York. John P. “Jack” Courtney and Patricia Ann “Pat” Courtney were her parents at the time of her birth. Kathy lived in a trailer near a steel industry as a child since her family was impoverished.
She graduated from Syracuse University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Hochul was active while in university. In 1980, she graduated from Syracuse with a bachelor’s degree. She went on to Catholic University Columbus School of Law and graduated in 1984.
