Salvatore “Sam” and Helen Cecilia (née Burke) Travolta gave birth to John Joseph Travolta in Englewood, New Jersey in February 1954. Meanwhile, his father worked as a tire salesman and co-owner of Travolta Tire Exchange, while his mother taught high school theatre and English.
