Joe Budden was born on August 31, 1980, in New York City, New York, United States. Fay Southerland and Joseph Budden, his parents, gave birth to him. He moved to Jersey City, New Jersey, with his mother and older brother when he was 13 years old. He attended Lincoln High School there.
