In October 2019, Jason took part in an interview with Vlad TV. In an interview, he claimed that Disney had made him an incredible $2 million check in exchange for providing the singing voice of Young Simba. His mother wasn’t happy about her son getting a single flat rate at the time, though. His mother was astute enough to understand Disney’s potential long-term financial success. At that time, Weaver was a teenager. After his mother’s intervention, he decided against a one-time settlement payment and chose royalties instead. Disney first offered Weaver $2 million as his first check, but he ultimately received a far less sum. He recalls receiving his first cheque, which was close to $100,000 upfront and included a portion of royalties. Given that he ultimately earned far more than Disney’s initial offer, Weaver seems appreciative of his mother.
