On April 12, 1926 Walter Edward Withers and Lavinia Ruth Withers gave birth to Withers, in Atlanta, Georgia. Her career in show business began when she was a child. She joined a tap-dancing school when she was only two years old. She won Dixie’s Dainty Dewdrop, a local amateur competition, at the age of three.
Surprisingly, she had her own radio program called Dixie’s Dainty Dewdrop when she was three and a half years old, where she interviewed celebrities visiting Atlanta.

In 1932, she made her cinematic debut in the film “Handle with Care.” In 1934, she received a supporting part in Shirley Temple’s film “Bright Eyes,” which gave her her greatest break. She got a seven-year deal with Fox Film Corporation shortly after her major relocation. She started shooting the film ‘Ginger’ on her ninth birthday. Kenneth Errair of ‘The Four Freshman’ was her husband in October 1955. She has two kids with Kenneth. In an aircraft disaster near Bass Lake, California, Errair died in 1968.
