On the 27th of February 1991, Abraham Ancer was born in McAllen, Texas. His parents were born in Mexico and immigrated to the United States when he was a child. He is a dual citizen of the United States and the Mexican Republic. Abraham grew raised in Reynosa, Mexico until he was fourteen years old.
He attended Sharyland High School and received his schooling there. He then went to Odessa Junior College to further his education. In college, he was named to the first All-American team. Ancer even played in the Junior College National Golf Championship, placing second. He then transferred to the University of Oklahoma, where he received a master’s degree in General Studies in 2013.
While studying in Oklahoma, Abraham continued to play golf. In his debut season, he had the sixth-lowest scoring average in Oklahoma history. He finished his career as the second-best golfer in the all-time scoring average at the University of Oklahoma.
